
Belt Named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville's Tone Belt received BIG EAST field Athlete of the Week honors for his performance at the Texas Relays on April 4-5 as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
"I was proud of the effort Belt gave last weekend and his performance merited the honor," said U of L head coach Ron Mann.
Belt, a redshirt junior, collected an NCAA Mideast Regional qualifying mark in the long jump and improved his height on the national descending order list in the high jump. Belt placed second in section B of the long jump with a leap of 24-02.50 (7.38m). His long jump performance currently ranks tied for the No. 24 spot in the country. Belt also finished seventh in section A of the high jump, clearing 7-00.50 (2.15m). The high jump performance is tied for 10th in the country. Belt was previously named BIG EAST Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 28.
This marks the second weekly award for the Cardinal men and third overall for U of L as Steven Hnat and Rachel Gehret earned the honors on March 25.
The Cards will return to action on April 16-17 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and will also host the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational on April 18 at Cardinal Park.
