
Field Hockey Travels to Villanova

The 15th ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will travel to Villanova for a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday, Oct. 10 at noon.
The Cardinals (6-5, 1-2 BIG EAST) are led offensively by sophomore Hayley Turner's 23 points, seven goals and nine assists. Junior Nicole Youman follows with 17 points (4G, 9A). Junior Nikki Auker and senior Kayla May each have five goals. Senior goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby (6-5) carries a 1.66 goals against average and has helped the Cards to four shutouts on the season.
Louisville is coming off of Sunday's 2-1 overtime loss to No. 8 Michigan State. In that game, Karah Nall gave the Cards an early lead and held on until the Spartans knotted the score with just 2:15 remaining in regulation. MSU went on to win in overtime.

Scouting the Wildcats: Villanova enters the game with a 7-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats are coming off a convincing 10-1 win over Lehigh on Wednesday and are led by Meredith Sabatini's 28 points (12G, 4A). Lauren Wuzzardo follows with 23 points (8G, 7 A). Megan Goelz (4-2) carries a 1.61 goals-against average in the cage for the Wildcats.

All but one of Louisville's five losses have been at the hands of teams currently in the top 20, including: No. 8 Michigan State, No. 7 Connecticut, No. 6 Syracuse and No. 14 Duke
The Cards have only been shutout once this season, in their first game, a 3-0 setback to then-10th ranked Duke
Eleven players have contributed to Louisville's 40 goals on the season, 10 of those players have accounted for multiple goals
Junior midfielder Nicole Youman is now tied for fourth on the school's career assists list with 28. She needs one more to move to third and seven more to move to second. Jessica Javelet holds the record for career assists with 38.

The Cards will travel to Ohio State for a midweek game on Oct. 14. U of L will return to BIG EASTplay when they play host to Providence on Friday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. That game will be televised by WHAS11 and aired in a delayed broadcast with Sean Moth and Suzanne (Irwin) Bush carrying announcing duties.
Also during Friday's Providence game, Team Cardinal will participating in a food drive to help area families during Thanksgiving. Fans who bring canned goods with them to the game will be entered in a raffle for a field hockey gift basket to be given away at halftime.
Louisville will close the weekend with a game against No. 4 Wake Forest on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Cards will celebrate senior day by honoring goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby and forwards Kayla May and Julie Anne Smith. Fans are encouraged to wear white as the Cards attempt to set a regular season attendance record mark of over 700.
