
Danks Fourth in 800m on Final Day of Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - University of Louisville junior Seidre Forde earned a runner-up finish in the women's triple jump, while senior Chris Danks was fourth in the men's 800m and junior Andre Black was fifth in the men's triple jump on the final day of competition Saturday at the Drake Relays at Drake Stadium, site of the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.
Forde, from Green's St. George, Barbados, had a regional qualifying leap of 42 feet, 2.25 inches to finish second overall in the field of 18 collegiate triple jumpers. Kansas senior Crystal Manning won the college event with a leap of 42-07.50.
Leading the way for the Louisville men on Saturday was Danks' fourth-place time of 1:50.98 in the field of 11 runners in the 800m, the second best time of his career. Last week, Danks (Florence, Ky.) earned his first career bid to the NCAA Mideast Regional with a career-best time of 1:50.25.
In the men's triple jump, Black (Mobile, Ala.) finished fifth in the field of 16 with a regional qualifying leap of 51-04.50. Black is a qualifier for the NCAA Mideast Regional, set for May 30-31 in Fayetteville, Ark., in both the triple jump and long jump.
Up next, the Cards will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the 2008 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships on May 2-4 at Villanova Stadium.
