- The Cardinals honored three seniors before the game who were playing their final games in Freedom Hall: David Padgett, Juan Palacios and Terrance Farley. The senior class has combined to post a 102-34 record during their careers at Louisville.
- With the win, the Cardinals have now won nine straight games and 15 of its last 17 contests. The nine-game winning streak is the longest since they won nine straight during Louisville's Final Four season in 2004-05.
- The Cardinals held Villanova to 54 points, which was the 16th time the Cardinals held an opponent to less than 60 points in a game.
