Women's Tennis Tops SMU

The University of Louisville women's tennis team beat a short-handed SMU 6-1 Friday afternoon in Dallas.

The Cardinals split the two doubles matches that were played with Robyn White and Jo-Ann Van Aerde defeating Nicole Briceno and Kristen Reid at No. 2. SMU had to default the other doubles match to give the nod to the Cards.

Lauren Imre fell 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 for U of L's only loss of the day in singles. Lindsey Jones rolled 7-5, 6-4 over Pavi Francis at No. 2 singles. Bianca Gorbea held on to beat Nicole Briceno in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 3. Jo-Ann Van Aerde met with little resistance from Kristen Reid 6-3, 6-2. The Cardinals return to action Saturday when they meet Tulsa at SMU's courts.
