
Padgett, Williams Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville center David Padgett and forward Terrence Williams have been honored on the 2008 All-BIG EAST Conference team.
A 6-11 senior captain, Padgett was a first-team selection after earning second team honors last year. He has averaged a team-leading 11.7 points and grabbed 4.5 rebounds while shooting 68.6 percent from the field. In statistics for league games only, he set a BIG EAST record in field goal percentage, connecting on 68.3 percent (86-of-126). Padgett has been impressive in his last eight games, averaging 14.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists while shooting 71 percent from the field (44-of-62). He was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll two of the last three weeks of the season.
A 6-6 junior, Williams was a second-team pick for the second straight season. Williams is among the BIG EAST leaders in assists (4.6, seventh in the BIG EAST), rebounding (7.4, 12th), assists-turnovers ratio (1.48, 12th) and minutes played (36.1, third). He has scored in double figures a team-best 18 times and has led the Cardinals in assists on 18 occasions this season. He produced two triple-doubles this season, just the third and fourth in U of L history.
U of L earned a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed in the 2008 BIG EAST Conference Championship presented by Aeropostale, to be played March 12-15 in New York's Madison Square Garden. The Cardinals open play in the quarterfinals of the event against the winner of No. 7 seed Pittsburgh and No. 10 seed Cincinnati, on Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. All 11 games of the tournament will be televised on ESPN.
