Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville women's basketball team will play on national or regional television seven times during the 2008-09 season a highlighted appearance on ESPN2 against Connecticut.
"We are excited about our television appearances this season," said head coach Jeff Walz. "This team worked extremely hard last season to get the chance to play in front of a national audience. I think it will give us an opportunity to help grow our program playing against teams like Xavier, Connecticut, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and Marquette on television. We will have the opportunity to showcase our program on a national level against great teams."
The Cardinals will travel to Xavier on Nov. 22 for a nationally televised game on CBS College Sports (formerly known as CSTV) for a noon tipoff. WHAS-TV will broadcast the Ball State game from Freedom Hall on Dec. 7. The game will begin at noon.
ESPNU will broadcast the Rutgers game on Jan. 11 from Freedom Hall at 2:00 p.m. It will be a rematch of last season's BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinal. CBS College Sports will also broadcast the Cardinals game against Cincinnati on Jan. 17 at 8:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will travel to Connecticut for an ESPN2 broadcast on Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. It will be the rematch of last season's BIG EAST Tournament finale.
In February, BIG EAST Regional Television will broadcast the game against Pittsburgh on Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. Then the BIG EAST regular season finale at Marquette on March 2 will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m.
Louisville opens the regular season on the road at Tennessee Tech on Nov. 15 at 3:00 p.m.
