- The Cardinals, who entered the game ranked 11th nationally in field goal percentage defense, limited Marquette to just 30.4 shooting from the floor. The Golden Eagles were the ninth team that the Cardinals held under 40.0 percent shooting from the floor.
- Louisville held Marquette to a season-low 51 points and are 120-21 when holding its opponents to less than 70 points in a game in the last seven years under head coach Rick Pitino. Marquette's previous low was 61 against Seton on January 8.
- The Cardinals limited Marquette to just 51 points, which marked fifth time in six games that Louisville has held an opponent to less than 60 points in a game. Kentucky was the last team to tally more than 70 points against the Cardinals on January 5.
- Senior center David Padgett scored in double figures for the third time this season and the first time since January 1 when he tallied 13 points against Cincinnati. Against Marquette tonight, Padgett notched 17 points and recorded a season-high 10 rebounds -- his first double-double of the season and the seventh of his career.
- Junior Terrance Williams tallied a team-high 20 points in the game. Williams, who was 2-for-7 from the field in the first half, responded by going 5-for-6 and 2-of-2 from behind the arc in the second half. It was the most points for him since scoring 22 versus Iona on December 29.
- The Cardinals out-rebounded Marquette,43-30, in the game, which marked the 13th time this season that Louisville out-rebonded theopposition. Louisville is 10-3 when out-rebounding their opponent.
- Louisville out-scored Marquette, 44-32, in the second half, marking the 16th time in 17 games that the Cardinals out-scored the opposition in the second half.
- Marquette was 0-for-12 from behind the arc, which marked the first time since St. Louis on 1/6/01 that Louisville held an opponent to without a three-point field goal in a game.
