- Today's matchup versus New Mexico State head coach Marvin Menzies for the first of three for head coach Rick Pitino versus one of his former assistant coaches. With the win, Pitino is 20-4 all-time in games against former assistant coaches.
- Pitino is 51-8 all-time in the month of December in his seven seasons with the Cardinals and is now 69-15 against non-conference foes.
- Senior forward Juan Palacios returned to the lineup after missing the first nine games of the season with torn cartilage in his right knee. Palacios scored two points and recorded three rebounds.
- The Cardinals connected on 12 three pointers, which was the most since hitting 22 in the season opener against Hartford on November 17. Louisville has hit 22 trifectas over their last two games.

He scored in double-figures for the second straight game and is averaging 14.0 points per game during that span.
- The Cardinals recorded 15 assists on only 23 made field goal attempts.
- Louisville is 115-20 when holding its opponents under 70 points in Pitino's seven seasons at Louisville, including 6-1 this season and 26-5 over the last two seasons.
- New Mexico State out-scored Louisville, 42-35, marking the first time all season that Louisville has been out-scored by the opposition all season.
