INDIANAPOLIS - - The University of Louisville softball team was a recipient of the NCAA Public Recognition Award. The award is given to teams that have an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.
Every Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year, based on the eligibility, retention and graduation of each scholarship student-athlete.
The Cardinals finished the 2007 season with a 37-25 overall record and reached their fourth straight NCAA tournament, earning the BIG EAST Conference's automatic bid by winning the league tournament championship. Louisville will open the 2008 season Feb. 8-10 at Florida State's Early Bird Tournament.
