MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Natalie Cocchi scored early in the second half to give 22nd-ranked West Virginia a 1-0 win over visiting Louisville Friday night.
The Cardinals were outshot 22-5 on the evening and despite seven saves by senior goalkeeper Joanna Haig, U of L (7-3-1, 2-2-0 BIG EAST) was unable to hold off the Mountaineers (7-3-1, 3-0-1).
WVU's Kim Bonilla keyed in a corner kick, and Ashley Banks set up Cocchi for the game winner.
Shannon Smyth's three shots paced the Cardinal offense.
Louisville will travel to Pittsburgh Sunday and face Pitt at 1:00 p.m. before returning home to the Ville where they will host Rutgers at 8:00 p.m. Thursday night on a National TV broadcast on Fox Soccer.
