Louisville Head Coach Bobby Petrino
"It gives us another chance to step forward next week against Kansas State. We can't get too excited about one game. This game was awesome for our fans and it was awesome to see all those fans at Card March. And to see all the fans after the game, it puts tears in our eyes."
(on the slow start) "A lot of that isn't the job of the offensive line, it is an 11-man protection is what we call it. Same as the quarterback making the right calls, the receivers getting open on time. It's not just the offensive line, it was a group thing. We started making good corrections and identifying things a little quicker. As we got into the game more those things didn't happen and we made some big plays."
(the turning point of the game) "We caught them a couple of times of getting on the line and doing the no huddle. They weren't getting their plays in on time to get lined up. That gave us some momentum. Anytime you get some big passes like that and soften your safties up a little bit, it just becomes of combination of wearing them down and getting through ball screens and getting the ball snapped quick. George and Kolby really hung in there. It was tough going. There is no question about it they are a great football team. You have to stay working and keep moving forward."
(on the defense) "I was really proud of our defense. There is no question they did a great job. They had a really good plan, they stuck to it and I think that was a big thing and our coaches did a really good job of sticking to the plan. They kept bringing pressure never letting up. They did a good job of stopping the run with the pressure and hitting the quarterback."
Louisville QB Hunter Cantwell
"I got a little bit nervous, but I tried to keep a smile on my face and have a good time. The fans were great and I knew they were behind me." "Brian (Brohm) was standing right there beside me when I was on the sidelines, encouraging me and helping me."
(on why he did not look to transfer) "No one gave me a shot and U of L did. These coaches have spent hours upon hours with me. There was never a time that I thought I would leave the University of Louisville."
(on U of L's defense) "They played incredible. Everyone was a worried about the deep passing game, but our defense really shut them down. "Watching (ESPN's) Gameday this morning, no one picked us to win. Then they came out and jumped on the Cardinal Bird. To come out and put 31 points on the board to their 7 was great."
Louisville QB Brian Brohm
(before the injury) "I was feeling great in there and was just getting into the flow. I've just got to come back now. I've had bigger injuries than this before. The doctor said it would be three weeks before I could throw the ball."
(on how the injury occurred) "It was on the throw to Mario. The guy had me around the waist and my thumb hit the turf. I stayed in one more play. I went to hand off the ball on a running play and the ball felt flat. I said I had to get out of here because I couldn't hold the ball. We have a lot of talent on our team. I think people underestimate how deep this team is."
(on Miami jumping on the Cardinal Bird) "It got us fired up before the game. We didn't need any extra motivation, but they gave it to us."
Louisville C Eric Wood
"After the second drive, we felt confident that we could move the ball. We took it to them on offense. I could not be more proud of our defense. They really took it to Miami's offense. In the second half, I felt like they were getting tired, getting tired up front. After this game we really proved we are a two-dimensional team (offense and defense)."
Louisville DT Amobi Okoye
"I just knew we were going to show up at some time and some point. It just came earlier than I thought and we ran with it. (about trash talking on the field) Without trash talking football wouldn't be fun."
Louisville WR Harry Douglas
"On my birthday, I feel good. No actually, I feel great. It was a great win for our football program."
(about Cantwell) "Hunter was smarter and a lot more confident overall."
(about Miami stomping on the Cardinal logo) "It is just disrespectful, very disrespectful to our program."
Head Coach Larry Coker
"Well it was pretty obvious today, we were embarrassed. Our players are embarrassed. Our coaches are embarrassed."
"We thoroughly got whipped, got whipped in the second half by a good Louisville team. We knew they were a good team. We knew we were going to have to play better on offense."
"I think we were in pretty good shape in the first half of where we wanted to be. In the second half we allowed it to get away from us. We didn't do enough on offense and defensively we gave up good plays, and thus the score.
"Today we were obviously not a good football team."
"We've got a lot left to play for. There's a lot of football left. You know you'd hope to go into this open date with a better feeling, but maybe we'll go into this open date with a reality check.
"We've got a lot of work. We've got to coach better, and I take responsibility as head coach for that. We've got to play better. We've got to take more ownership as players.
"Right now I think we're kidding ourselves a little bit thinking that we're a pretty good football team, but we're not a good football team.
"We've got a lot of football left and we still have a chance to possibly win the ACC Championship. We've got to play a lot better than we are playing right now."
#82 Greg Olsen
"In the first half we moved the ball well. We got down to the red zone four times in the first half and only scored seven points. Anytime you do that you're not going to do very well."
(On the second half) "You've got to give them credit. They beat us straight up."
(On the shock in the locker room) "Of course there is shock. It was a complete 180 from the way the game started out to the way it ended. I don't know what happened. We just let it slip and slip and slip, and never regained the momentum back. That's what happens."
(On Louisville) "They're good. There's no doubt about it. But, so are we. We just have to play like a good team like they played like a good team."
#78 Anthony Wollschlager
(On the game) "We fumbled, had a penalty here and there. It was just kind of a snowball effect throughout the game."
(On Louisville recovering the fumble) "That was huge. We were right there about to make it 14-0 in the first quarter. Any turnover is huge in a game, statistically, momentum, everything. And that right there was big. It was critical."
(On controlling the line of scrimmage) "I didn't get to see much of their offensive line. Honestly, I think we did a real good job up front. They threw some blitzes at us. I wouldn't say that they controlled the line of scrimmage, but that's kind of hard to say considering the scoreboard.
(Where does Louisville rank among other teams) "They threw a lot of stuff at us and you have to give credit where credit is due. They came out swinging on us and the scoreboard tells all. Compared to who we've played, they beat us pretty good."
(On stomping on the Cardinal) "We just came out and felt disrespected by a lot of stuff they have said. I guess emotions go the better of a lot of guys and we went out there and couldn't back it up on the field. You can't smack somebody in the face and back down."
(Is that the team's normal m-o?) "There's the normal jumping around. I think it's a lot of emotion that just ran wild. To say m-o, I don't know."
