
Men's Soccer Opens Season Against Memphis

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team will open the season Friday night in a game against the Memphis Tigers in Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m.
The Cardinals exhibition play with 0-0-2 record with scoreless ties against Evansville and UAB. They return last year's leading scorers Frank Jonke and David Guzman. Guzman earned first team preseason All-BIG EAST honors.
The Cardinal defense has been strong in the two exhibition games. Goalie David Simolike registered two shutouts against Evansville and the UAB in his first year of play at U of L.
Memphis comes into the game with a 1-0-1 record in exhibition play. The Tigers defeated Lipscomb 2-0 and ended with a 1-1 tie against Christian Brothers College. Memphis returns six starters from last year's team. Their defense includes three-year starting defender Michael Coburn and goalkeeper Tyler Strom.
