
Eva Petschnig Joins Women's Tennis Coaching Staff

Former University of Memphis assistant coach, Eva-Maria Petschnig, has joined the women's tennis team coaching staff it was announced by University of Louisville head coach Greg Davis.
"We are extremely pleased to have Eva as our assistant coach," said Davis. "Starting with the fact that I feel she brings a great deal to our program not only as a top flight player herself, but as an experienced coach."
Petschnig spent last season assisting Memphis coach Charlotte Peterson. Eva was a 2005 magna cum laude graduate of Valdosta State with a degree in business administration, capped her collegiate career as the No. 5 ranked player in NCAA Division II in both singles and doubles. She helped Valdosta to a third place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Orlando in 2005 and received the prestigious South Division Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship and Leadership Award. A two-time team MVP at Valdosta, Petschnig was named the Female Student Athlete of the Year following her senior season. On the court, she was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American.
A certified tennis instructor by the German Tennis Federation, Petschnig was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Beta Gamma Sigma and the Golden Key International Honor Society at Valdosta State. The tennis team captain, she was also a member of SIFE (Student in Free Enterprises).
In her native Germany, Petschnig played on the Bundesliga Tennis Team for RTHC Bayer Leverkusen and coached at the BW Monheim (Country Club) in Monheim, Germany, and at LTC Langenfeld in Langenfeld, Germany.
