Louisville, Ky. - The No. 72-ranked University of Louisville women's tennis team defeated their University of Central Florida counterparts 5-2 on Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals improve to 18-6 on the season while the Golden Knights fall to 10-8.

"Central Florida is a very good team and very well coached, " UofL head coach Greg Davis said. "It took a great effort by our whole team and we played great doubles today!"

The Cardinals earned the first point of the contest after sweeping all three doubles matches. At the No.1 spot Louisville's Robyn White and Maria Klokotzky defeated Central Florida's Pamela Fernandez and Elvira Serrot by a margin of 8-3. The duo of Natalia Baez and Bianca Gorbea bested Megan Hunter and Kyla McNicol 8-4 at the two-spot while Suzanna Gracanin and Natalie Laszkowski outdid Becky Gordon and Anna Yakimchenkova 8-5 at the No. 3 position.

Louisville was also able to win four out of their six singles matches. White got the better of Yakimchenkova at No. 3, winning 6-3, 6-1 while Gracanin beat Hunter 6-2, 6-0 at the four-spot. Baez held on to win her match at the No. 6 position against Gordon 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 and Laszkowski put away McNicol 6-2, 6-3 at the five-spot.

The Cards will be traveling to Chicago to take on the University of Illinois-Chicago on Saturday April 8th at 11:00am.
