Softball Set for Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The No. 20/21 ranked University of Louisville softball will host the Louisville Classic March 24-26 at Ulmer Stadium. The tournament field features defending national champion Michigan, Middle Tennessee, Eastern Michigan and Toledo. Louisville will face Middle Tennessee (7-17-1) Friday at 11:30 a.m. and Toledo (7-12) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday's slate will feature a 2 p.m. matchup with No. 12 Michigan (13-9). The Cards will close out the tournament against Eastern Michigan (6-14) Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Cardinals (17-2) enter the Louisville Classic ranked No. 20 in the NFCA/USA Today poll, marking the highest ranking in school history. The Cards moved up a spot from last week's previous highest ranking of 21. U of L held tight at No. 21 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Division I Top 25 Softball poll for the second week in a row.

Louisville is coming off of a three-game sweep of Missouri, extending its current winning streak to seven games. The Cardinals are batting .280 as a team with senior outfielder Leslie Garland's .385 average leading the way. Junior shortstop Courtney Moore follows with a .375 average, 15 RBI and 14 runs scored. Outfielder Kristi Cunningham is having an impressive freshman year batting .361 with a team-leading four home runs on the season.

Junior RHP Catherine Bishop boasts a team-leading 10-1 record and 0.58 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 72 innings, she is holding opponents to a .127 batting average. Redshirt sophomore RHP Kady Garrick (5-0) carries a 1.58 ERA and is holding opponents to a .172 average. Freshman Kassie Stanfill (2-1) has a 3.13 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work.
