Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino
"This was a great team effort by our guys. They played terrific. DePaul has played a lot of people really tough. They're a good ball control team and our guys played good defense and rebounded much better tonight. We out-rebounded the m 39-31 and shot 44 percent and still came out with 16 offensive rebounds. They did a terrific job our guys. We had 16 assists and held them to six. We played excellent defense, excellent rebound and got terrific play by so many players."
(On Terrance Farley and Brian Johnson) "I thought that Terrance and Brian both played terrific tonight. Johnson is a good offensive rebounder because he is so long. If he gets positioned inside he plays the ball up. He did an excellent job. It was a wonderful game for him."
"Winning 3 out of 4 is our goals for the end of the season. It's the same as it was three weeks ago, it's just a little more difficult to win those closing opportunities. That's our goal and tonight we played a great basketball game in all phases of the game. We mad smart plays and made our free throws, got rebounds, and played smart defense in crucial situations. I'm very happy for our guys because they got some rewards for working hard, very hard. As you can see by the way we're playing we're not looking forward to next year. Our time is now, we're going to keep playing that way."
DePaul Head Coach Jerry Wainwright
"Obviously, Coach Pitino and I go way back. He was just getting out of Five Star when I started working. He is a terrific guy, a great family man and a very good friend. He is doing a terrific job with the Louisville program. I would be remiss if I didn't say we are wishing David a speedy recovery. I was fortunate enough to work with David on the U20 team. He is a wonderful kid and he has done a great job in his redshirt year of building up his body. From our University we wish him the best in his rehab and recovery."
"I thought the difference in tonight's game was Juan Palacios. I think he has been struggling a bit lately. I know he has been fighting injuries. He was really effective at the 5 to 8 foot level. He made a lot of shots of penetration around the basket. Certainly Taquan Dean is one of my favorite players. I think he has done a great job physically building himself up. He has a wonderful court temperament. He is in a different role this year and his leadership is really important to the young guys around him. I think his first shot got him going and he hadn't made a shot and we made a mistake in transition."
