
Second-Half Run Propels Cardinals Past Huskies, 61-41

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Freshman guard Jerry Smith scored 16 points as Louisville beat Northeastern 61-41 Wednesday night.
Smith also grabbed eight rebounds.
The lead changed hands three times early in the second half and was tied 32-32 before the Cardinals went on a 10-0 run to make the score 42-32 and held the lead the rest of the way.
Northeastern took a 27-25 lead into the break at halftime after another cold-shooting first half by the Cardinals. Louisville (8-4) shot 29 percent in the half compared to Northeastern's 46 percent. Smith was the only Cardinal to make more than one field goal in the first half.
Eugene Spates led the Huskies (3-8) with 13 points.
Louisville's Juan Palacios led all rebounders with 10.
