
Volleyball Rolls Over Marshall 3-0

Ana Yartseva Stewart had nine kills, an ace and eight blocks to lead the University of Louisville volleyball team to a 30-19, 30-21, 30-15 sweep of Marshall.
U of L, which already has an NCAA automatic bid, raises its record to 24-6 with the win over the Conference USA runner-up. Marshall ends its season at 20-12.
"These games after the conference tournament help re-focus the team and keeps the layoff to a minimum," said Leonid Yelin, head coach. "When our blocking is strong, we are hard to beat."
U of L outblocked Marshall 13.5 to one and outhit the Herd .434 to .020. Tatyana Kolesnikova had eight ills and an ace to add to U of L totals. Marshall was led by Kelly-Anne Billingy's 17 kills and eight digs. Louisville native Stephanie Cahill had 11 kills for MU.
U of L ran out to an 8-0 run in the early going and then increased the lead to 11 at 24-13. Marshall was outmuscled to a 30-19 win for the Cardinals. The Herd hit just -.103 with 10 kills and 14 errors. Yartseva Stewart had three kills and five blocks to lead the Cardinals.
U of L used an 8-2 run to go up 19-12 in the second game. Marshall battled to within four at 23-19 before U of L ran off seven of the last nine points for the win. Tatyana Kolesnikova and Yartseva Stewart each had four kills with Kolesnikova adding an ace. U of L hitting improved to .406 to MU's .108. Cahill had six kills for the Herd in that set.
A Cardinal start of 13-3 in the final game proved to be too much for Marshall as U of L rolled to a 30-15 win.
U of L takes on No. 18-ranked Ohio University Saturday at 7:30 in Cardinal Arena for the last regularly schedule match of the season. U of L will find out its opponent in the NCAA at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
