
Volleyball Set for DePaul and Notre Dame Home Matches

The University of Louisville takes on DePaul and Notre Dame in BIG EAST volleyball action this weekend in Cardinal Arena.
U of L (14-6, 7-1) stays home for the final two matches of a seven-match homestand. DePaul visits Cardinal Arena on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Blue Demons are 5-19, 0-8 in the BIG EAST. Notre Dame is tied for second with U of L with a conference mark of 7-1. Mark Neely and Bill Doleman will be calling the action at Cardinal Arena as ESPNU broadcasts the match between these BIG EAST rivals. Match time is 1 p.m.
The Irish post a regular season record of 13-8. Louisville native Christina Kaelin is a leader for ND with 219 kills and 10 solo blocks. Notre Dame head coach Debbie Brown is 11-3 in her career against Louisville. The last time U of L faced the Irish was Nov. 20, 2005 in the BIG EAST Championships final at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Also a nationally televised match, the Irish prevailed 3-2 in a clash of the titans as seniors All-Americans Lena Ustymenko and Lauren Brewster battled it out. Both teams advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
U of L is ranked No. 6 in the nation in blocking and No. 15 in hitting percentage. Ana Yartseva Stewart is ranked No. 20 in the nation in hitting percentage as an individual. The Cardinals registered their widest blocking margin of the season when they outblocked the XU Musketeers 19.5 to 5.
