The No. 71-ranked women's tennis team beat visiting Illinois-Chicago 5-2 Saturday at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to push the Cardinals' record to 18-7.
The Cardinals started the match off by gaining the doubles point. Suzanna Gracanin and Robyn White made quick work of Iris Jaklin and Melanie Humphrey with a 8-3 win. Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski battled Christina Dum and Corey Steven to a 9-8 (6) win at No. 1. U of L defaulted the No. 3 spot.
The Cardinals took their 1-0 lead and turned it into a route with wins from the middle of their lineup. White, Taylor, Laszkowski and Gracanin won at spots No. 2-5. Leslie Stewart lost at No. 1 and U of L defaulted the No. 6 spot.
