LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 2005 outdoor track and field season will continue for the University of Louisville men's and women's teams on Friday and Saturday at the Miami Invitational hosted by Miami University at George L. Rider Track in Oxford, Ohio. The meet, which is set to include teams from Cincinnati, Dayton, Kent State, Marshall and Ohio among others, is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET with the hammer throw and continue on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.
"I think this meet will be a wonderful experience for our team and for me on both a professional and personal level," said U of L head coach Ron Mann. "It should be another very competitive meet for our athletes at a great facility and in a great environment. I'm also looking forward to seeing (Miami head coach) Warren Mandrell again in a competitive atmosphere after spending so many successful years working with him at Northern Arizona."
Prior to being named head coach at Miami University in 2003, Mandrell spent 12 years as an assistant to Mann at Northern Arizona University.
The Cards enter this weekend's meet following a strong performance at last week's Mike Poehlein Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. U of L's men's and women's squad combined for 17 Top-5 finishes at Purdue while sophomore Aajah Showell set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles.
Following this weekend's meet at Miami, the Cards will compete at the Pacesetter Invitational hosted by Indiana State University on April 15-16 in Terre Haute, Ind.
