- U of L produced its best defensive effort of the season, limiting Miami to just 25 percent from the field, including 2-of-15 accuracy from the three-point line. The Hurricanes entered the game shooting 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from three point range.
- Juan Palacios was named MVP of the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic, totalling 19 points while hitting 4-of-7 three-point goals.
- David Padgett scored 11 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, his second double-double of the season and first in 10 games.
- After scoring just four points in the first 12 ½ minutes of the second half and falling behind 38-39, the Cardinals reeled off 17 straight points to take a 55-39 lead with 1:30 remaining in the game.
- U of L has produced a 39-3 record during the month of December in Coach Rick Pitino's five years with the Cardinals.
- U of L has won three games this season scoring below 60 points.
- U of L's seven blocked shots was a season high. David Padgett, Terrence Williams and Terrance Farley each blocked two shots.
- Taquan Dean has made 19 consecutive free throws over the last eight games.
- Louisville has won 13 consecutive home games in Freedom Hall, where the Cardinals play their first BIG EAST Conference game against Villanova on Jan. 5.
- Louisville has had an 11-1 record after its first 12 games in three of Coach Rick Pitino's five seasons with the Cardinals. U of L's best start under Pitino was 18-1 in the 2002-03 season.
