- U of L produced its best defensive effort of the season, limiting Miami to just 25 percent from the field, including 2-of-15 accuracy from the three-point line. The Hurricanes entered the game shooting 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from three point range.
- Juan Palacios was named MVP of the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic, totalling 19 points while hitting 4-of-7 three-point goals.
- David Padgett scored 11 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, his second double-double of the season and first in 10 games.
- After scoring just four points in the first 12 ½ minutes of the second half and falling behind 38-39, the Cardinals reeled off 17 straight points to take a 55-39 lead with 1:30 remaining in the game.
