The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to the No. 14 ranked University of Kentucky at the Boone Indoor Tennis Center in Lexington.
The Cardinals faced steep competition as UK's sixth-ranked doubles tandem of senior Aibika Kalsarieva and sophomore Sarah Foster started things off with an 8-3 win over Suzanna Gracanin and Leslie Stewart at No. 1. The No. 2 doubles team of Natalie Laszkowski and Kelly Taylor ran into trouble against the 11th-ranked duo of sophomores Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk. The No. 3 duo of Ariana Marshall and Robyn White made a strong showing against UK sophomores Lara Maurer and Christine Simpson before falling 8-6.
In singles, the Cardinals fared little better, but a highlight included freshman Stephania Velazquez beating Caroline Winebrenner 3-6, 6-4 (10-6) in a comeback win. Fellow frosh Robyn White had a three-set match at No. 4 when she dropped the first set to Christine Simpson and then eked out a 7-5 win in the second set before falling 10-5 in the final set.
