
Women's Tennis Dogs Butler

The University of Louisville women's tennis team began their dual match season with a 6-1 win over visiting Butler University at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center Saturday.
"This was a good start for the first match of the year," said Greg Davis, U of L head coach. "We really need to focus on playing better team doubles if we can do that, we will improve a great deal."
Despite Davis' concerns, the Cardinals captured the doubles point by winning all tDehree matches. Suzanna Gracanin and Leslie Stewart beat Alaina Griffin and Kim Jensen 8-1. Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski handled Tavo Bailey and Shaden Dowiatt 8-4. Ariana Marshall and Robyn White paired to beat Kaitlin Elliott and Michelle Hawes.
U of L dominated singles play winning five matches. Taylor, Laszkowski, White, Marshall and Stephania Velazquez won their singles matchups. Stewart lost No. 1 singles in a hard-fought three set marathon.
