
Women's Tennis Beats Charlotte

The University of Louisville women's tennis team beat Conference USA foe Charlotte 6-1 Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for their second win of the weekend.
"This was a great, great team win over a very talented Charlotte team," said second year coach Greg Davis. "I learned a long time ago that any conference win is a great win!"
The Cardinals took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski beat Ofra Friedman and Kathy Robay 8-5 at No. 2. Paige Eber and Christina Gogol clinched the point with an 8-4 win over Marilyn Clark and Jennifer Hatch at No. 3.
With the 1-0 advantage, the Cardinals went to work on singles. Freshman Michele Spiess beat Laura Swain 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 and fellow frosh Julia Hierl battled Friedman to a 7-6 win in the first set and rolled 6-1 in the second at No. 2. Taylor pulled out a win at No. 3, beating Ashleigh Mulloy 6-4, 7-6 (4). Eber survived Ali Piacente 1-6, 6-4 (10-6) at No. 4. Laszkowski handled Clark 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
"Today was one of our best performances of the year," said Davis.
