LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team swept a pair of matches over Miami (OH) and Xavier Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Louisville improves to 17-7 on the year with the two wins.

The Cardinals opened the day with the 4-3 upset win over No. 72 Xavier in the afternoon match. Michele Spiess defeated Lauren Clary 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1, while Kelly Taylor won at No. 2 over Stephanie Bauer 6-2, 7-5. Natalie Laszkowski picked up a win at No. 6 after defeating Jackie Vilines 6-2, 7-6 to secure the win for the Cardinals. The Cardinals took the doubles point after sweeping all three matches.

In the 5-2 win over Miami, Louisville again got off to an early lead as the Cardinals swept all three doubles matches to win the point. Spiess (No. 1), Julia Hierl (No. 4), Natalie Laszkowski (No. 5) and Christina Gogol (No. 6) all picked up wins in singles action for the Cardinals.
