The University of Louisville women's tennis team snapped Eastern Kentucky's three-match winning streak with a 7-0 win at the Martin Hall Courts in Richmond, Ky.
The Lady Colonels went down swinging however, with two singles matches in decided by super tie-breakers as No. 3 Julia Hierl won 6-4, 5-7 (10-5) over Lucia Vojtkova . Tessa Williams also fell in a tie-breaker, 5-7, 6-3 (10-6), in her singles match at No. 5 to Christina Gogol.
No. 1 player Michele Spiess won easily at No. 1 singles over Hannah Bartsch 6-2, 6-0. Kelly Taylor moved up a notch to No. 2 and won 6-0, 6-1 over Lindsay Herrera. Paige Eber beat Terin Roof and Natalie Laszkowski won over Janina Dickhardt 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively.
U of L returns to action Saturday with a pair of matches at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals face Xavier at 2 p.m. followed by Miami of Ohio at 7 p.m.
