Women's Tennis Takes Tennessee Tech

The University of Louisville women's tennis team took all but one match to beat Tennessee Tech 6-1 in college tennis at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Saturday.
U of L won the doubles point with Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski moving to No. 1 doubles and beating Marina Tasheva and Alet Boonzaair 8-4. Leslie Stewart and Michele Spiess won at No. 2 and Paige Eber and Christina Gogol combined to win 8-3 over Maya Russinova and Alicja Kutyla.
"It was a good win over a scrappy Tennessee Tech team," said Greg Davis, U of L head coach. "We are still looking for a total team effort in a match right now."
Stewart had her hands full at No. 1 singles but prevailed 7-6, 7-5 as did Laszkowski at No. 6, beating Russinova 7-5, 6-4. Spiess won handily 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 with Taylor following suit at No. 4 beating Melisa Cansado 6-3, 6-2. Julia Hierl beat Kutyla 6-0, 6-1 to wrap up the Cardinal scoring.
