Women's Tennis Edges Eastern Michigan

The University of Louisville women's tennis team squeaked by Eastern Michigan 4-2 at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals rallied after going 2-2 in the early going of the match.
U of L went into singles play after winning the doubles point. Leslie Stewart and Michele Spiess won at No. 2 and Paige Eber and Christina Gogol rolled at No .3, beating the team of Amalia Lincaru and Laura Fernandez 8-3.
"This is a good win over a tough and talented Eastern Michigan squad," said Greg Davis. "They are well-coached and the match was really decided by the doubles. It was our best doubles outing of the year."
Stewart and Gogol both dropped their singles matches, but Taylor won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5. Natalie Laszkowski handled Fernandez 6-3, 6-1. Julia Hierl held on to win at No. 4, beating Kendra Clark 7-6, 6-2 for the match point.
"We are happy to be 8-2 with some momentum going into a three-match homestand next weekend," said Davis.
