
Women's Golf Wins Miss Louie Season Opener

Hattiesburg, Miss. - University of Louisville women's golf team won the Miss Louie Season Opener with a score of 629 at the Shadow Ridge Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss. on Saturday afternoon. The tournament was co-hosted by Southern Miss and Louisville. The Cardinals shot a 325 in the first round in the morning and then shot their second lowest score of the season with a 304 in the second round.
"I am really proud of this team the way they came back," said head coach Kelly Meyers. "We were third after the first round and then came back and shot a season low for the title. I am also glad to see Elly play well after seven months away and it is even more special for her to win her first tournament."
Sophomore Elly Leonard won the tournament with a score of 153. The tournament was the first one for Leonard this season, after missing the fall season with a wrist injury. Freshman Katie Tewell finished third with a score of 156 and Meghan Little finished tied for fifth with a score of 157.
Senior Ali Wright finished with a score of 164 and freshman Amy Yeates finished with a score of 171. Freshmen Jaime Bentley and Cristina Gonzalez competed as individuals, Bentley finished with a score of 175 and Gonzalez finished with a score of 176.
