Women's Tennis Burns Blazers 5-1

The University of Louisville women's tennis team won their third match in a row with a 5-1 win over Conference USA opponent UAB at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to move their record to 5-2 for the season.
"It was good to get our first conference win of the year," said Greg Davis, U of L head coach.
The Cardinals faltered during the doubles point when the No. 1 pair of Leslie Stewart and Michele Spiess fell 8-5. The No. 2 doubles pair of Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski were edged 9-8. Only the No. 3 pair of Paige Eber and Christina Gogol won 8-3.
"UAB played very well in doubles against us, but we were agle to respond in singles with a great team performance," said Davis.
Stewart had her hands full in the first set of the match at No. 1 when she eked out a 7-6 win but rolled 6-2 in the second. Spiess rolled at No. 2, beating Annemiche Elsholz 6-2, 6-4. Taylor battled to a three-set win after losing the first 3-6 and the nwon 6-2,6-1. Julia Hierl beat Nadia Dellarciprete 6-3, 6-0. Eber won her match 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
