No. 8 Michigan State Edges Field Hockey 3-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The fifteenth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team lost to No. 8 Michigan State 3-2 Friday at Trager Stadium. The Cardinals move to 2-3 while MSU improves to 3-1 on the season.
The Spartans got on the scoreboard at the 13:05 mark in the game when Jennifer Beeuwkes blasted a push from Alexandra Kyser on a penalty corner.
Kyser tipped a penalty corner shot from Annabet Beerman to give Michigan State a 2-0 lead at the 19:35 mark in the game.
The Cardinals responded five minutes later when sophomore April White netted an unassisted goal from the top of the circle to make it a 2-1 game.
White struck again with 32 seconds remaining in the first half to tie the contest at 2-2.
In the second half, Michigan State drew nine corners before Beerman connected on assists from Kyser and Beeuwkes for the go-ahead goal at the 48:23 mark in the game.
Michigan State outshot the Cardinals 13-10 and held a 13-8 penalty corner advantage. Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey posted four stops in the game. Michigan State goalkeeper Christina Kirkaldy collected five saves.
Louisville will play host to Southwest Missouri State Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
