OXFORD, Ohio - Freshman Brandon Cook won the discus event to lead the University of Louisville men's track and field team to a third-place finish at the Miami Invitational Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.
The Cardinals tallied 78.5 points on the day, two points ahead of fourth-place finisher Marshall. Ball State won the nine-team competition with 210 points, narrowly edging Miami (207) for the title.
Cook took home individual honors in the discus for the first time in his young collegiate career with a throw of 155 feet, 1 inch. Cook also placed sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 150-11.
