The University of Louisville women's tennis team recorded its eighth shutout of the season and extended its winning streak to six with a 7-0 win over Eastern Kentucky at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center Tuesday.
The Cardinals won the doubles point and then swept the singles to move to 17-5 on the season. The win brings U of L just one away from tripling its win total from a year ago.
"This was, by far, one of our best matches of the year," said first year coach Greg Davis. "It was a very dominating performance by all six players."
Freshman standout Marie Louise Frolich-Hansen continued her tear with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hannah Bautsch at No. 1 singles. Marie Louise paired with Kelly Taylor to win No. 1 doubles 8-2. Taylor won her No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-3 over Lindsey Herrera. Paige Eber, boosted to the No. 3 position in singles, won easily 6-1, 6-1 over Natalie Garcia. Melisa San Martin, Julie Penn and Jasmin Singh each won their singles match as well.
"We are looking forward to a great match against conference rival Cincinnati on April 2," said Davis.
