The University of Louisville women's tennis team beat the University of North Florida 6-2 in Jacksonville to boost their win streak to four straight including three on their ambitious spring break road trip.
The Cardinals took two of three doubles matches with Marie Louise Frolich-Hansen and Kelly Taylor teaming up to beat Liliana Hung and Camila Sagae at No. 1 doubles. Paige Eber and Jasmin Singh paired to beat Julie Stopelli and Melody Legoff 8-6 at No. 3.
In singles, U of L took four of the matchups with Frolich-Hansen setting the pace with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Allison Davidson at No. 1 singles. Seniors Melisa San Martin and Julie Penn beat their opponents in two sets at Nos. 4 and 5 respectively. Freshman Jasmin Singh beat Liz Rodgers 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 to seal the win.
"We played very well in singles today," said U of L head coach Greg Davis, whose team moved to 15-5 for the season. "We came out and won five of six first sets and that put a lot of pressure on UNF."
The Cardinals travel to Jacksonville University for the final match of their spring break road trip.
"Jacksonville will be a very tough opponent," said Davis. "It is always tough to play them at home but right now we have a lot of momentum after these last four wins."
