The University of Louisville women's tennis team were on the wrong side of three of four three-set matches and fell 5-2 to Georgia State at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cardinals changed their lineup a bit but it wasn't enough to do damage to Georgia State.
"Basically, Georgia State wanted this win more than we did," said Greg Davis, U of L head coach.
Louisville's No. 1 doubles team, Marie Louise Frolich Hansen and Kelly Taylor lost 8-5 to Annamaria Forgacs and Anne Breiholtz. The two uncharacteristically lost their singles matches at No. 1 and 2 respectively both in three sets.
Jasmin Singh and Paige Eber won at No. 3 doubles but Louisville did not get the doubles point as Melisa San Martin and Julie Penn were edged 9-8. However, Eber won her singles match at No. 3 and Mariana Torres pulled out a win at No. 6 by barely edging Christina O'Neil 7-5, 7-5. Freshman Casie Skaggs went three sets before losing to Karine Etienne.
"We had some tremendous effort in singles out of Paige Eber, Jasmin Singh and Mariana Torres," said Davis.
