
Cards' Comeback too Late, Falling 70-66 to the Billikens

St. Louis, Mo. - Saint Louis connected on five of six from the line to hold off a Cardinal comeback to defeat Louisville 70-66 Friday evening in Bauman-Eberhardt Center. Lori Nero led all scorers with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Saint Louis led 58-41 at the 8:08 mark. At the 4:40 mark Sabrina Minter went down with a knee injury and Kim Graham stepped in and connected on both free throws from the line, cutting the lead to 62-52.
Then Nero scored six straight points to pull the Cards within 62-58 with 2:49 remaining. Senior Amanda Wolke connected on a jumper on the next possession to cut the lead to two.
With 1:01 remaining and down 65-60, freshman Connie Neal nailed a three-pointer from the right side with 34 seconds remaining. Harmonie King hit both free throws to put the Billikens up 67-63. Sara Nord then curled around on the left side and hit a trey with 20 seconds remaining, to cut the lead to 67-66.
Star Jackson hit two free throws and Neal's three-pointer hit the rim. Jana Haywood hit one of two from the line to dash the Cards' comeback hopes.
Louisville will finish out the season at Memphis at 4:00 p.m.
