
Field hockey blanks Indiana 2-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - Senior Desire' Miller and junior Kim Hughes scored as the University of Louisville field hockey team defeated host Indiana 2-0 Sunday.
The teams battled in a scoreless tie for most of the first half until Louisville senior forward Desire' Miller connected on an assist from freshman defender Lisa Wasser on a penalty corner with just under three minutes remaining in the half. The Cardinals took the 1-0 lead into the break.
Junior defender Kim Hughes added an insurance goal for the Cards with less than two minutes left in the game when she netted an unassisted goal on another penalty corner.
U of L goalkeeper senior Christy Hershey posted four saves in her second shutout in two days. Indiana goalie Mollly Pulkrabek had two stops in the game. The Hoosiers fall to 7-8 on the season. The Cardinals outshot IU 10-7 and held an 11-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Louisville (10-8, 5-3 Mid-American Conference) will be back in action when MAC opponent Ohio visits Trager Stadium on Friday, Oct. 31 at 4:00 p.m. The Cards will close out the regular season and celebrate senior day on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Kent State at 1:00 p.m. in another MAC matchup.
