ATHENS, Ohio -- - The University of Louisville field hockey team fell to Ohio University 1-0 Friday in Athens, Ohio in a Mid-American Conference matchup. The Cardinals are currently No. 20 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
The game was scoreless until the 29th minute when Ohio's Elizabeth Holtzman connected on a pass from Tanja Konijn for the only goal of the game.
The Bobcats outshot the Cardinals 10-8, but Louisville held a 7-2 penalty corner advantage.
U of L starting goalkeeper, senior Christy Hershey collected six saves in the game. Ohio's Jen Cote posted four stops in the shutout.
Louisville (6-6, 2-2 MAC) will travel to Kent, Ohio to face MAC rival Kent State Saturday at 1 p.m.
