
Women's Basketball Ends Nonconference Season with a Win

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team finished out the nonconference season with a 78-54 win over Columbia in Freedom Hall Tuesday night. Five players scored in double figures as the Cardinals improved their win streak to six.
Junior point guard Sara Nord broke the school career assist record with her 12 assists. Nord broke Stephanie Edwards' record of 559 assists and now has a career total of 560 assists. She also scored 10 points for her third double-double of the season.
Amanda Wolke led the Cards in scoring with 15 points and Lori Nero added 14 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Connie Neal added 13 points and Nina Simotes chipped in 12 points to round out the top scorers.
Louisville started to game with an 8-0 run before Columbia's Megan O'Neill connected on a three-pointer at the 17:37 mark. The Cards finished the first half with a 42-25 lead behind 51.5 percent shooting.
Nero and Wolke got the Cardinal offense running in the second half, scoring the first eight points of the half. With 6:50 remaining Nero connected on a jumper to put the Cards up 70-38, for their biggest lead of the game.
The Cardinals will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3:00 p.m.
