
Cards Drop Conference Opener on the Road

Cincinnati, Ohio - The Cincinnati Bearcats used a 22-0 run midway through the first half to defeat the Cardinals 67-48 Saturday afternoon in Shoemaker Center. Senior Lori Nero led the Cards with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Four other Cardinals were in double figures, Sara Nord had 12 points, Kim Graham and Angel Bradley added 10. Sophomore Debbie Merrill led the Bearcats with 19 points.
The Cards went up 8-4 before Cincinnati went on the 22-0 run to go up 25-8 with 7:40 remaining in the half. The Cards 20.7 percent from the field in the first half and scored a season low 15 points in the first half.
The Cardinals improved in the first half, shooting 42.4 but could not recover from the first half lead. Cincinnati outrebounded the Cards 39-29 for the game.
The Cardinals will host Houston Friday, Jan. 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Freedom Hall.
