The University of Louisville women's tennis team continued its winning ways with a 6-1 victory over Tennessee Tech in Cookeville today. The Cardinals won the doubles and then swept all but one singles match.
"I thought we played extremely well in singles. Our intensity was good throughtout the line-up 1 thru 6 and that made a difference in the match," said first year U of L coach Greg Davis.
The doubles teams of Marie Louise Frolich-Hansen and Kelly Taylor won at No. 1 and Paige Eber and Jasmine Singh won at No. 3.
"We have yet to put it together in doubles, although we won the doubles point we have to come out and put together a total effort in doubles by all six players," said Davis. "We are confident that we can improve in that area this weekend coming up when we play at IUPUI and Butler on the road in Indianapolis."
Frolich-Hansen and Taylor each won their singles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. Senior Melisa San Martin won her first singles match of the young season. She held on to win in three sets over Anita Obando.
I was extremely happy to see Melisa San Martin get her first singles win of the year at number 3 singles, after being behind 4-0 in the first she came back won the first set then in the third she was down a break and fought back and won against a quality opponent," said Davis.
