
Field Hockey Shuts Out Ohio State 2-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Ohio State 2-0 Wednesday at Trager Stadium. The Cardinals are ranked No. 9 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, while the Buckeyes are No. 19.
After playing a scoreless first half, Louisville's Pip Sanders broke the tie with an unassisted goal at the 26:42 mark in the second half to give the Cards a 1-0 lead.
Joanie Frame connected on a Sanders assist for an insurance goal five minutes later to give the Cardinals the 2-0 win.
Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey posted one save in her first shutout of the season. Ohio State goalkeeper Lara Koole collected two stops in the game.
The Cardinals outshot the Buckeyes 8-7. Ohio State held a 4-1 penalty corner advantage. OSU falls to 3-4 on the season.
Louisville (3-2) will travel to Durham, N.C. to face No. 16 Duke Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1:00 p.m. They will then travel to Boone, N.C. to play Appalachian State on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m.
