Duke Tops Field Hockey 2-1

DURHAM, N.C. - The University of Louisville field hockey team fell to Duke 2-1 Saturday at Williams Field.
The Cardinals are ranked No. 9 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, the Blue Devils are No. 16.
The teams played a scoreless first half before Duke's Katie Grant put the Blue Devils on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 37: 48 mark in the second half. Duke's Chrissy Murphy netted a feed from Kim Van Kirk to increase the Blue Devil lead to 2-0 with 20:27 remaining in the game.
Louisville's Olivia Netzler capitalized on a penalty corner to pull the Cards within one five minutes later to make the score 2-1.
The Cards were awarded 17 penalty corners to Duke's eight. The Blue Devils outshot the Cardinals 14-9.
Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey collected 11 saves in the game. Duke's Erica Perrier had four stops for the Blue Devils.
U of L (3-3) will travel to Boone, N.C. to play Appalachian State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
