CLAREMONT, Calif. - The University of Louisville men's track and field team set 11 personal records and nearly set a school relay record Friday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, Calif.

Senior J.R. McCleney led the way for the Cardinals with a ninth-place finish in the 400m with a personal-best time of 48.54.

In the 5000m, seniors Justin Banks (15:19.95) and Mike Horan (15:38.66) ran personal best times to finish 11th and 19th, respectively.

Other Cardinal runners who had personal-best times were freshman Marques Robie (21.78) in the 200m, sophomore Dennis Wolff (1:56.16) and junior Dan Barczak (1:57.11) in the 800m, junior Tim Franxman (4:04.04) in the 1500m and senior David Mudd (55.46) in the 400m hurdles.

In the throws events, junior Brad Roach finished ninth in the javelin with a personal-best toss of 169 feet, five inches. Sophomores Troy Williams (147-8) and John Blackwell (47-5.25) had best marks in the discus and shot put, respectively.

The Cards' 4x400m relay team nearly set a school record with a third-place time of 3:15.52, only .02 seconds from the three-year old record.

Louisville will also compete in the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach State Open this weekend during its visit to the west coast.
