New Orleans, La. - The University of Louisville women's golf team finished ninth in the 2002 Green Wave Women's Golf Classic Tuesday at Lakewood Country Club. Host Tulane kept the lead, shooting a tournament low 293 to finish with a 601 total. Mississippi St. finished second with a score of 625 and Campbell University was third with a 638.
Louisville shot a second round of 319, improving from the 330 yesterday for a score of 649.
"We're a little disappointed in our play after our win to end the fall season," said head coach Kelly Meyers. "The weather kept us from practicing before we left for New Orleans and it probably played a role in how we finished. But now we have the first tournament under our belt and will build on it for the rest of the season."
Senior Cindy Pasechnik shot a team low 76 today to finish the tournament tied at 37th with a score of 164. Alison Wright led the Cards with a solid performance, shooting a 79 again today for a score of 158, tying for 15th place.
Senior Lizzy Freemantle shot another 80 to finish tied for 21st with a score of 160. Freemantle was competing as an individual. Sophomore Morgan Hapney shot an 83 today and finished tied for 25th with a score of 161.
