
Women's Tennis Knocks Off Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team's used improved doubles play to help them turn the corner to beat conference foe, the University of Memphis, 4-1 in Memphis.
"This was our best team spirit all year, said Meg Peavy, U of L head coach. "We played with lots of heart."
The Cardinals won No. 2 and 3 doubles, with Julie Penn and Paige Eber squadking by 9-7 over Sumitra Rao and Annika Westburg. The No. 3 doubles pair of Mariana Torres and Kelly Taylor have continued their successful play with a 6-3 win over Rebecca Garnerand Laura Hughes.
"We played great doubles at No. 2 and 3 and that carried over to the singles," said Peavy. "We are thrilled with the win."
In singles, the middle of the Louisville lineup shouldered the point scoring for the team. Torres, Taylor and Penn each notched wins.
