TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The University of Louisville's women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 match to Indiana State.
After losing the doubles point despite close scores, the Cardinals' wins in singles at No. 3 and No. 6 were not enough to upend the Sycamores.
"We knew this would be a tough match as ISU had a win over Butler," said Meg Peavy, head coach. "Our No. 1 (Melisa San Martin) and No. 4 (Kelly Taylor) fought hard but came up sort.
Julie Penn beat ISU's Magda Narczewska handily 6-1, 6-2. At No. 6, Mariana Torres beat Logan Becker 6-0, 6-1.
"It was a great effort by Julie and Mariana to come up with those wins," said Peavy.
Kelly Taylor's seven match singles winning streak at No. 6 was broken when she lost to Margie McGraw 6-4, 6-4 while playing at No. 4.
"We are working hard preparing for C-USA rival Saint Louis due in her at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning," said Peavy.
