TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The University of Louisville's women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match to Conference USA foe Saint Louis.
The Cardinals doubles team of Mariana Torres and Kelly Taylor won at the No. 3 spot 8-2, but Saint Louis edged out U of L at No. 1 and 2 to take the point.
"This was a tough loss and we are splitting the singles, but the doubles has been a critical problem," said head coach Meg Peavy. "We will regroup and set our minds on another C-USA rival, Cincinnati set to visit April 4."
Julie Penn continued her winning ways this week with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Amy O'Handley. Paige Eber beat Rebecca Steer and Mariana Torres, now playing at No. 6, beat Kristen Doyle, 6-2, 6-3.
"We are fighting hard in spots but we have to maintain it throughout the match," said Peavy.
